Watermist systems and network panels feature in strong global growth
[
Video smoke detection technology and water mist systems are set to be strong growth areas in the global fire safety market, which is set to have a compound annual growth rate of almost 5% a year to 2011.
New research from IMS shows the world market for fire detection and suppression products will grow from $5037 million in 2007 to $6110 million in 2011. China and the Middle East are set to see the fastest growth, at 9.2% and 9.6% respectively. UK growth will be just under the world average at 4.6% a year compound growth.
The video smoke detection sector is expected to show a growth rate of almost 39% a year, although this is from a comparatively low base of $10 million in 2007, rising to $36.8 million in 2011. The report comments that demand for VSD has been hindered by a lack of awareness and acceptance by a characteristically conservative market, but this will changes as the technology gains wider approval and market experience.
Another high growth area is network control panels, which are set to represent over a third of all panel sales by 2011. Watermist systems are also set for significant growth, with the market in the Americas forecast to rise by around 17% a year.
World Market for Fire Detection & Suppression Products 2008 from IMS Research is published in three volumes. The single-user license for each regional report is GB pound 3250, with a 10% discount offered to readers of FSE.
