Weatherproof fingerprint reader launched
Biolock says its IP65-rated device, which can operate wirelessly, is able to verify access at temperatures between 0 and 50c. It can be integrated with any exit button, alarm or door controller and users can keep their existing door locks.
When operating as a standalone unit, the Biolock IP65 is said to be able to store up to 100 fingerprint templates. If connected to a TCP/IP Ethernet network, it can store an unlimited number of templates and log transactions.
As well as its access control applications, Biolock say the device can be used to turn on lights and even operate motors. To improve reliability, the company has used radio frequency scanning technology that reads below the surface of the skin, ignoring dirt and scars on fingers.
If users want to allow casual access to a particular building or area, the reader also comes with a four-digit PIN facility.
