Wembley, hailed by Tony Blair as the “finest stadium in the world”, may be seen as a symbol of his legacy. Both clubs, having agreed to hand over late ticket sales to the FA’s online system, found it wanting, allegedly due to lack of staff. Stevenage fans were warned to expect severe delays on trains to Kings Cross. And at the stadium everyone was subjected to empty-pockets, full body-scan airport security. For some areas passports were required.

A security and antiterrorist company that specialises in guarding sensitive installations and is chaired by the head of the household of the Prince of Wales will unveil plans today for a London listing.
Westminster Group, whose products include specialist scanners and explosive and diver detection devices, hopes to raise GB pound 2.5 million on the Alternative Investment Market.

America’s top intelligence official says the nation’s spy agencies should assess the “geopolitical and security implications” of global warming.
Mike McConnell, the director of National Intelligence, which oversees the CIA and 15 other spy agencies, said it was “entirely appropriate” to study how crises caused by climate change, such as famine and rising sea levels, could affect the growth of terrorism.
President George W Bush has acknowledged the existence of global warming and that man-made actions have contributed to it.
