Wire free fire detection at Liverpool Cathedral

[

At Liverpool’s Metropolitan Cathedral EMS has installed an integrated, wire free fire detection and voice evacuation system.

EMS Group’s radio based systems were chosen because all devices – fire detectors and voice sounders – are wire free. Because cable was not needed, the system was installed in a relatively short time.

Over 300 radio devices and two networked 24-zone control panels were installed by Grainger Fire systems to LPS 1014. Voice evacuation for the public areas is provided by a pre-recorded messages from EMS’s combined smoke sensor/voice sounder. In other areas, standard combined fire sensor and sounder units have been used.

Cathedral staff are also provided with radio pagers that receive text messages when there is an alarm, so helping evacuation procedures.
