State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Xtralis strengthens UK sales team

Ward will be responsible for promoting the company’s comprehensive portfolio of integrated, IT-centric access control and video security solutions to consultants and other specifiers (among them major end users).

Xtralis’ digital video security systems range was recently enhanced with the acquisition of VSK, of course, making it the first company to introduce access control and security solutions designed specifically to meet the demands of IT and security professionals alike.

‘Power brand’ for the security sector

“I’m delighted to be joining Xtralis at such an exciting time in its development,” said Ward in conversation with SMT Online. “The company has an outstanding portfolio of products that I believe are second to none in today’s market. I look forward to using my experience in helping to make Xtralis a ‘power brand’ in the security industry.”

Prior to joining the Xtralis team, Ward was employed by Tyco-ADT as a consultant on major integrated projects, and has worked in the security industry – both in the UK and internationally – for nearly 20 years.

Hamish McKirdy – director of sales for the EMEA – added: “We’re pleased to welcome Mike and believe our customers and partners will benefit greatly from his technical knowledge and experience. As a company, we’re committed to delivering high quality solutions that solve our customers’ most significant business continuity and security needs. By further strengthening our team, we’re better placed to ensure we deliver on that promise.”

All-new Euro showroom opens its doors

Xtralis has also opened a new European showroom to demonstrate the full integration and interoperability between the security, video, access control and fire detection technologies within its product range.

Located at the heart of Xtralis’ EMEA business in Brussels, the showroom has been built with three key purposes in mind: to act as a showcase for Xtralis’ products, for use as a Training Centre for engineers and as a facility to aid the further development and integration of the Xtralis product portfolio.

Complementing two other facilities in the UK and Germany, the new centre is also the site from which e-learning and webex sessions will be delivered.

In conversation with SMT Online, Roger Paul – general manager of Xtralis Security Solutions – explained: “The response from our customers to a new investment in our European hub has been most encouraging. They can both see and feel the benefits of integrated security. The showroom provides the perfect platform for highlighting the full interoperability between our VESDA and IP ecurity products as part of a total fire and security solution aimed at the end user.”

Sohcom partnership promotes IP to IT

As if these former developments weren’t enough, the company has just signed an agreement with the value-added IP product distributor Sohcom to distribute its comprehensive range of energy-efficient, integrated access control and video security solutions to IT professionals throughout the UK.

The new security portfolio from Xtralis comprises solutions that simplify deployment and management by information technology (IT) professionals, such as Power-over-Ethernet access control devices, energy-efficient Cold Disk video storage and IT standards-based video management servers built on commercial, off-the-shelf Intel processors.

Colin Bateman – the operations director for Sohcom – has described the Xtralis offering as the perfect complement to his company’s existing portfolio of wireless solutions and WAN optimisation products.

“The Xtralis S3000 and V3000 is exactly what the reseller channel has been demanding for some time,” Bateman told SMT Online. “We look for products that are Best-in-Class, and the Xtralis S3000 and V3000 provides the reseller – and indeed the IT manager – with an integrated security solution on their network that has never before been available. It’s a product that will give us clear competitive advantage.”

Embellishing Bateman’s words, Hamish McKirdy concluded: “We’re pleased to be working with Sohcom in bringing our next generation of products to a wider audience of IT and security professionals. Our solutions integrate easily with existing IP network infrastructures and feature technologies that reduce the burden on already resource-constrained staff, networks and power requirements.”
