Very informative review Colin, as always! It’s great how you include actual video clips, makes it a very “real” review. Looks like a very good cameras, must admit that I use analogue bullets with built in IR but haven’t used any IP bullets as yet, I may give this one a go!

Very helpful to see the camera in action.
How small should a bullet camera be? Do we need some kind of rules for what qualifies as ‘bullet’?

Thanks everyone, I will be working to include more sample footage with future reviews, as well as the light levels in lux where sample footage is shot. Please let me know if there is anything else you would like to see.

I think anything more than two inches in diameter is starting to cross into a different category. The largest “real” bullet in the world is just less than one inch in diameter. At two inches, a camera is technically twice the size of the object it is being compared to, and I think that is more than enough leniency. The other important thing to note is that bullet cameras have a stigma attached to them that they are cheap and have extremely limited features. Once you start adding things like WDR and remote zoom/focus you start to move past… Read more »

Most of the “bullet” cameras with integral IR I use are more than 2″ diameter so they can fit in the double IR LED rings so perhaps a new name should be coined …… shell or mortor camera perhaps!!?? I am an independent consultant and am not trying to sell anything but I have tested several “high-end analogue” bullet cameras with integral IR, all with virtually identical datasheets and was very disappointed in all of them apart from one, the Samsung SCO-2080R. A lot of camera for the money especially when I can get hold of it for less than… Read more »

Rocket cam is good. Shell cam or cannon cam to keep the ‘gun’ metaphor going, but then cannon sounds a bit like Canon the brand.
Taking this off somewhere else slightly, we have dome cams and minidome cams. Why don’t we have Mega Dome Cams? Actually thinking that through then you’d have, for instance, a 10 Megapixel Mega Dome Camera. Too much mega.

Thanks for the share, Tony, yeah that’s pretty good value for a decent IR cam.

I think ArecontVision may have cornered the market when it comes to using Mega.
MegaDome
MegaVideo
MegaBall
MegaView
I think it’s best to stay away from using Mega unless we want a MegaLawsuit!

Yeah, fair enough. Stay away from mega then. Ultra, hyper, uber. Hm, perhaps this naming products thing is harder than we gave it credit for.

Agreed, I think we need Anthony Hildebrand’s help on this one.

Well, it’s bigger than a bullet, and bigger than a bullet camera. And calling it a ‘shall cam’ makes it sound like it’ll be shaped like a seashell. So how about the ChubbyBulletCam?
Some other suggestions:
HeftyBulletCam
BigbonedBulletCam
BulletCamPlus
BulletCamXL
PerfectCam
David, the video surveillance camera

I think you’ll agree, these are all excellent names.

…as if by magic he appears. I particuarly liked ‘David’. There’s a lot to be said for tech named after humans. The Berners-Lee Wide Web was always my favourite name.

I especially like BigbonedBulletCam, very politically correct. I think you have your next Quick Poll!

I would steer clear of any reference to weapons and armaments in this day and age!  Instead, I would edge towards something unique and subtle like ConiCam or AdvaCam….unless of course they already exist.

Apparently advacam is an X-ray camera. I like the principle of just making a word up though. Blathercam. Tylycam. I’m just making noises now…

Exactly, just make a word up and put Cam on the end (with a capital C)….ZultCam
