The partnership will see Genitech provide Canon’s highly detailed video capture and HD technology to systems integrators and end users as part of a complete package, integrated with server and software applications from its other partners.
Genitech has already seen demand for Canon’s technology from its law enforcement customers and the company expects further interest from all security sectors, including power stations, airports and other transport hubs.
A statement from Genitech said it chose to partner with Canon “due to its unique position in the network camera market; Canon has 70 years of optical and digital imaging heritage as a high quality lens manufacturer and market leader in digital SLR and broadcasting technologies.
“Canon uses the core technology assets from these areas to develop network cameras which deliver exceptional image quality and capture best in class images in all light conditions.”
Lens quality Henry Naret, sales director at Genitech, said: “Canon is well-known for lens quality in photography and the application of this same technology to the security camera market delivers outstanding image depth and reliability.
“Our customers will be impressed with the long-term results that Canon’s network cameras deliver.”
Canon and Genitech’s partnership includes co-exhibiting at key security events in Europe, to further increase Canon’s profile within the video surveillance camera sector. Canon and Genitech showcased integrated solutions at APS 2011 in September 2011.
Joe White, business development manager for network camera solutions at Canon Europe said: “Canon’s partnership with Genitech is part of our strategy to develop our European presence with a group of specialist distributors who have expert knowledge in our target markets.
“We have forged a close entrepreneurial relationship with Genitech and together we can offer customers in France a compelling solution for their video security needs.”
