State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Intelligent video cuts out monitoring stations

It requires only the network cameras and a broadband connection. No specific equipment or dedicated PC is needed.

The GotoMyCamera service is being launched by intelligent video specialist Eptascape.

Aimed at individuals and small businesses, the company claims it “eliminates the complexity” of a traditional surveillance system.

It takes advantage of the motion detection and intelligent event detection features in network cameras.

Video triggered by these features is uploaded to the GotoMyCamera server automatically and only relevant video is stored.

The account owner can access cameras and the stored images by password and only the owner can grant or revoke access to other users.

Eptascape says the service allows owners to “bypass traditional central station monitoring for alarms notification” and “eliminates any need to purchase recording equipment”.

The service is based on Amazon S3 storage and is priced on how much storage is required.

Real time alarm notification is sent via the internet to any connected device.

The service is currently being beta tested during which time it will support Axis cameras and those using the Eptascape events detection system. More camera models will be accommodated according to demand, says the company.

Company CEO Marco Graziano said the service was an “efficient alternative to prevailing video systems”.

It meant security investment could be “better directed to the acquisition of more intelligent and faster connections.”
