State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Retailers still clamouring for CCTV

Vicon was an exhibitor at the British Council of Shopping Centres’ Shopping Centre Management Conference, held recently in Liverpool.

The British Council of Shopping Centres is the voice of the retail property industry and, as such, looks to promote retail-led regeneration and growth. This was reflected by the speakers at the conference, who addressed a range of topical and important issues.

According to Richard Allen-Miles, Vicon’s sales director for the UK and Ireland, visitors to the company’s stand were particularly interested in the benefits that an integrated, networked IP CCTV solution can deliver.

CCTV investment must bring results

“Shopping centre managers want to ensure customers can enjoy their shopping experience, and part of that process is to create a safe a secure environment,” said Allen-Miles. “In these challenging financial times, it’s also absolutely vital that centre managers’ investment in CCTV generates real tangible results.”

Vicon was able to demonstrate to end users that the very latest video management technology offers improved Control Room efficiencies, enhanced security and makes life extremely easy for security personnel to observe and react to any criminal activity or Health and Safety-related incidents.

With the release of ViconNet Version5, shopping centre and retailer customers now have access to incredibly powerful and easy to use ‘open platform’ video management software.

ViconNet 5’s fully-integrated video analytics provides added value by empowering CCTV Control Room operators to quickly identify suspicious activity and retrieve pre-recorded video evidence.

Mixture of end user solutions

Vicon has grown into one of the world’s leading independent manufacturers of CCTV equipment and high quality video systems. The company offers fully-engineered solutions based on full IP, hybrid IP and analogue or the more traditional all-analogue technologies.

The company’s digital solutions for end users are based on the powerful ViconNet software platform which has been incorporated into the full family of Vicon products and systems – from the high performance Kollector Elite and Pro network video recorders through to the virtual matrix control solution and a comprehensive range of IP cameras, IP encoders and decoders.
