A new survey reveals that one in 10 people in Britain still sleep with weapons by their bed due to fear of burglary, six out of 10 would use a weapon against an intruder and nearly half would be prepared to kill in order to protect their family.
So claims Micromark, whose recent national NOP survey revealed that people would use anything from guns, baseball bats and hammers as arsenal against possible attacks by burglars. But the anxiety about rising crime is also fuelling an increase in the sale of home security products. Many use home CCTV and burglar alarms as preventive measures, with 78 per cent of respondents believing home security products make people feel safer.
The survey also showed that 45 per cent would buy or already own home CCTV or burglar alarms to make them feel safe while at home, not just while away from home.
Micromark’s home security range includes the easy-to-install Wirefree Alarm that is suitable for four-bedroomed houses and an entry-level black and white CCTV camera kit that provides images via a standard television set.
