Siqura launches explosion-protected cameras for hazardous areas

Siqura, a global supplier of advanced video surveillance solutions, announced the availability of ExPLORE, a new range of explosion-protected surveillance cameras. These cameras are meant for hazardous areas in the marine, oil and gas (MOG) industry. The ExPLORE series consists of fixed and PTZ housings containing an analogue camera or a full-featured network camera that provides high-quality, high-definition images.

Siqura’s ExPLORE cameras are certified for Zone 1, where concentrations of flammable gases or vapours may occur and a single spark can lead to disaster. The housing of these environmentally hardened cameras is made of 316L electro-polished stainless steel, a corrosion-resistant alloy suited for use in harsh offshore and onshore environments. All models can be provided with certifications to meet different requirements worldwide, including ATEX, UL and IECEx.

The ExPLORE range, however, can be equipped with intelligent features. Take ObjectR-PID, Siqura’s system-wide solution for perimeter intrusion detection (PID). This powerful piece of analytics automates the surveillance of unmanned platforms and substations by sending out an alert whenever an intruder crosses a detection line or enters a detection zone.

“MOG locations are highly complex environments,” says Roger Decker, Managing Director at Siqura. “Operators are faced with so much information that they easily miss out on crucial events. In order to help them take better decisions, Siqura and its sister companies in the TKH Group developed an integral security solution that includes access control, lighting systems, offshore cables, control room software and now also explosion-protected cameras. All components are designed to work together and increase situational awareness through a careful selection of data streams. Only information relevant to a particular situation makes it to your security screen, the rest is omitted. The result: a greatly enhanced workflow
