Sales at Axis Communications leapt by 30% in the second quarter of 2015, according to an interim statement from the Swedish surveillance giant.

In a statement the company’s president Ray Mauritsson said “growth in the quarter was mainly driven by strong sales in the US.”

Totalling SEK1,906m (£230m) net sales at Axis Communications, which was acquired by Canon for US$2.8bn in February,  increased by 12% in local currencies.

Operating profit came to SEK389m (£47m) with an operating margin of 21%. After-tax profit totalled SEK289m (£35m) and earnings per share were posted as SEK4.16 (£0.50).

Over the first three quarters, from January to September, net sales jumped 24% to SEK4,876m (£587m) and by 5% in local currencies.

Operating profit amounted to SEK650m (£78m), corresponding to an operating margin of 13.3%. Profit after tax amounted to SEK476m (£57m) and earnings per share to SEK6.85 (£0.83).

Said Axis Communications President Ray Mauritsson: “Favourable exchange rate effects against the US dollar in particular continued to have a positive impact.

It has been a characteristically prolific year on the product front for EMEA’s biggest manufacturer of video surveillance equipment. The company has launched the AXIS F34 to target the office and retail market, new models in the Axis Q Series, outdoor-ready mini dome cameras featuring a built-in microphone and speaker and a new model in the AXIS P55 Series.

The AXIS Guard Suite, meanwhile, is the company’s latest foray into the world of video analytics.

“We continue to strengthen our research and development operations and are happy to have received the ‘Good Design Award 2015’ from the Japanese Institute of Design Promotion for the AXIS Q61 series,” continued Mauritsson.

“I am proud that Axis is swiftly meeting the market’s needs and is identifying new trends while maintaining quality and assuming responsibility at all stages. Together with partners, we are continuing to build a strong local presence, meet the market’s needs and lead developments.”
