The university, which has 15,000 students, has installed 450 cameras to date, most of which are IQeye cameras. It plans to have 500 when the latest phase is completed.
IQeye HD megapixel cameras are being installed throughout the main campus in Coral Gables. Most of the newer cameras feature H.264 main profile compression, which has reduced bandwidth and storage demands.
The university is also using OnSSI video management software for its security system. Steve Weatherly, the university’s senior security engineer said:

Right now, we’re focusing on bike theft and deploying cameras in about eight different areas to more effectively combat those incidents.”
