A great review. Thanks for the objective viewpoint! There are a number of this type of products on the market, and we use them in designs where clients are converting to IP video but need to use legacy cabling. There are coaxial variants as well, and they (UTP and coax versions) can be lifesavers. Definitely a good tool for your toolkit. However, our experience is that a key differentiator for these products, sadly, is their reliability. I say sadly, because you may not know how reliable they are until they’ve been installed for a while. So, to combat this, we… Read more »

Robert, thank you for your feedback. While I did not have any issues with the Longspan units during testing, I will have to wait and see how reliable they are over the long run. It truly is sad when a product needs to be sold as an individual unit because of a high failure rate. Especially considering that these units are fairly expensive to begin with.  The two units I reviewed in this video are in fact installed on a site right now, that being said, I will try to update everyone if they fail at anytime in the near… Read more »

The Ethernet Extenders offers impressive speed by but its price may turn off a lot of potential customers. In today’s security invested environment high speed ethernet extenders are much sought after devices for CCTVs. System found themselves handicapped due to speed and tranmission of real time information to decision makers. The plug in an go interface makes it easier as far as its installation and use is concerned. The reliabiliy would only be ascertained when it proves its worth with extended use.

Sheh, do you know what sort of price we’re looking at for it? (For international understanding shall we go for US dollars?)

Rob . The price should be fixed in US dollars for ease and standardization. In existing scenario , its a little difficult to meet the affordability of a larger customer base across the world. I believe it should not go beyond 25% of the ordinary devices meant for the same purpose.
